This article summarizes this month's Notion updates. Here's a quick overview:
- New Models Launch: Added Gemini 3 Pro and GPT-5.2
- Agent Feature Improvements:
- Supports reading page comments, can provide revision ideas based on annotations or break them down into tasks.
- Supports reading page edit history, can organize key version changes by timeline, understand revision intent and impact, and locate specific modules (titles, structure, data metrics, conclusions, etc.).
- Supports directly reading selected text passages as context, eliminating the need for copy-paste.
- Nano Banana image generation model in testing: can edit uploaded images or generate images from scratch, usage limits and pricing TBD.
- Database Card Style Update: Added "compact" layout for more compact field arrangement.
- Notion Calendar: Supports modifying page icons directly within Notion Calendar.
- Pages Performance Improvement: Page loading time reduced by approximately 1/3 (1.9s → 1.3s), with continued investment in engineering infrastructure planned for 2026.
- CEO Article Recommendation: "Steam, Steel, and Infinite Minds" shares three insights on AI's impact on work and organization, with links to original text and translation.
Here are the details:
New Models Launch
Notion has launched Gemini 3 Pro and GPT-5.2 models. However, based on my experience during this period, I still prefer Claude's models because they display the chain of thought more comprehensively, giving me a greater sense of "security," and Claude's writing style better aligns with my preferences.

Agent Feature Improvements
Agent Can Read Page Comments
In collaborative scenarios, if your copywriting or proposal has been annotated by your supervisor through comments, you can have Agent read these comments and then propose optimization solutions, or have Agent generate corresponding tasks based on these annotations.
In personal creation scenarios, if you've left some revision directions for articles or video scripts through comments, you can also have Agent read these comments and provide follow-up revision ideas.

Agent Can Read Page Edit History
When a page goes through repeated iterations, such as "campaign proposals," "product copywriting," or "project retrospectives" involving multiple collaborators, the real challenge isn't continuing to write, but understanding "what was actually changed recently" and "why it was changed this way."
Now that Agent can read page edit history, you can directly ask it to organize key version changes by timeline, extract the intent and impact of each revision, and attribute changes to specific modules (such as titles, structure, data metrics, conclusions). This way, when taking over a document someone else has half-written, or returning to revise your own draft after a week, you can quickly restore context, avoid repetitive discussions and trial-and-error, and focus on how to revise next instead of spending half an hour on archaeological research.

Agent Can Directly Read Selected Text Passages
Now when you select a passage of text, the Agent window will automatically use this text as context for Q&A, eliminating the need to manually copy and paste to AI.

Notion Will Soon Support Nano Banana Image Generation Model
This feature is currently still in testing. According to Notion officials, you can use the Nano Banana model to edit images already uploaded to Notion, or generate images from scratch using prompts.
However, the generation limits and specific pricing for this feature are currently undetermined.

Database Card Style Update
The database card style has added a "compact" layout that allows fields to be arranged more compactly. Previously, only one field could occupy one row.

Notion Calendar
You can now directly modify page icons in Notion Calendar.

Significant Pages Performance Improvement
Ivan Zhao mentioned on X that in 2025, the Notion team accomplished many cool things, but what was most meaningful to him wasn't something "flashy" or AI-related—it was the improvement in Pages loading speed:
- Loading time reduced by 1/3 (1.9s → 1.3s)
- This is an improvement that required a lot of patience and engineering polish
- The team will continue to increase investment in engineering infrastructure in 2026

Insights from Notion CEO
Notion CEO Ivan Zhao recently published an article titled "Steam, Steel, and Infinite Minds" on X, exploring how AI will reshape our work and organizational relationships. In the article, Ivan Zhao presents three profound insights:
- AI is the "miracle material" of this era: Jobs once compared computers to a "bicycle for the mind," but even with the internet, we're still riding bicycles. AI finally gives knowledge workers the opportunity to "drive a car."
- We're still "putting new wine in old bottles": Most current AI applications just stuff chatbots into existing tools without truly redesigning workflows.
- The knowledge economy will see a scale leap: Current knowledge work is still cottage industry-style. AI will drive a new paradigm of human-machine collaboration, enabling organizations to break through traditional scale bottlenecks.
This article received numerous shares on X. I recommend reading the original text, or you can read Lan Xi's translation, which is more accessible. For thoughts on Notion's underlying philosophy, you can also refer to my seven years of experience.
