Notion is delivering on its promise of a Chinese version. The Notion Android beta has been updated with a fully localized Chinese interface. This article gives you a sneak peek at the Android Chinese version and explains how to get the Android Chinese version.

What Changes Does the Chinese Version Bring
Full Localization of Block Names
First, all basic block features now have Chinese names. You no longer have to wonder what "Breadcrumb" — literally translated as "bread crumbs" — actually does, because it now has a much clearer and more intuitive name: "Path Bar" (路径栏).

Full Localization of Database Fields
As one of the most complex features in Notion, Databases now have all their fields fully localized with Chinese names.
Now, Select and Status — two features that look and function somewhat similarly — are more intuitively distinguished. They are now called "Single Select" (单选) and "Status" (状态), respectively.

Chinese Descriptions for Formula Fields
As the most complex feature within Databases, Notion's Formula field now includes Chinese supplementary descriptions. While Formulas are still challenging and hard to master, I believe this significantly lowers the barrier and makes them far less intimidating.

Date Fields Now Follow Chinese Reading Conventions
In the non-localized version, the default format for the Date field is "August 11, 2024," which doesn't align with Chinese reading habits. This meant that every time you created a Date field, you had to manually change it to a format like "2024年8月11日" — quite inconvenient.
In the Notion Chinese version, not only has the Date field been renamed to "日期" (Date), but the default date format has finally been changed to "YYYYMMDD" as well.

Full Localization of Page Settings
Beyond block features, all page settings — including the various Database configuration details — now come with fully localized Chinese text.

Built-in Templates with Chinese Names
At this stage, Notion has provided Chinese translations for its built-in official templates. However, the templates generated after clicking are still in English for now. Even so, this helps new users more quickly understand and explore the range of use cases Notion can cover.

Notion AI Fully Localized
As the AI assistant built directly into Notion, Notion AI is arguably the best and most convenient AI product integrated with a note-taking app — bar none.
In this Chinese beta, Notion AI has fully localized all built-in prompts, making your experience even smoother.

Beyond page-level AI features, the Database-level AI text fields — such as custom AI Prompt, AI Keywords, AI Summary, and AI Translation — all come with comprehensive localized descriptions:

In July 2024, Notion officially announced that its AI model uses GPT-4o. From hands-on experience, you can clearly feel that Notion AI's accuracy and response speed have reached a new level.
How to Join the Notion Android Beta
The Notion Chinese version has not been officially released yet, but beta versions are already available through iOS and Google Android channels. However, the iOS Beta is currently full, so the Google version is the available option for now.
First, you'll need an Android phone with smooth access to the Google Play Store. Search for Notion in the Play Store, scroll down the page, and tap "Join the beta" to enroll.

If you don't have access to the Google Play Store, you won't be able to try the Notion Android Chinese version for now. But rest assured — Notion's localization progress is accelerating, and all client versions should soon have a Chinese interface.
